What We Heard: Neighbourhood Renewal

Walking the blocks of Ward 11, and talking to you in listening parties and on doorsteps, I've learned what you want in the spaces you interact with everyday.

Your visions

You want Edmonton to be a city that protects and maintains its natural environment while responding to the needs of a growing population.

Your concerns

How are things living up to your visions? You see and experience the challenges of balancing green space and urban sprawl. You would like to see communities meaningfully involved in influencing the shape of your neighbourhoods and our city.  With the amount of urban sprawl in Edmonton, it is expensive to provide new municipal services to new communities. Why are we spending money on serving new areas when the streets and alleyways of Ward 11 need to be repaired and maintained?

How we'll renew our neighbourhoods

If elected as your Ward 11 Councillor, I will work together with you to create more vibrant communities. More density and mixed use developments in our neighborhoods will support our local economy and innovation. This density will need to be guided by thoughtful and sustainable design for infill housing and new development in our ward. I will help the City liaise with school boards to preserve city schools in core and mature areas.

I have learned a lot from these conversations, but there are many more people who I haven’t yet heard from. In the coming weeks and months, I will be hosting more listening parties. If you would like to attend one, sign up for our email list to receive news about attending one. Or volunteer to host one.

I will also be going door-to-door throughout Ward 11, and I look forward to meeting even more of my neighbours and continuing to learn about what matters most to you. I welcome your help if you would like to join my team by volunteering or donating.

If you see me or my campaign team in your neighbourhood, come and say hello. I’d love to meet you and discuss how we can work together to make Ward 11 a place you delight to live.
